Mother and Song Wedding Songs

We've discussed options for picking your first dance song and Father Daughter Dances, but now you're going to have to find a song to dance with your mother.

Again, like we said with picking a First Dance, you should first look to see if there's a song that's special to you and your mother. Maybe there was a song she sung to you when you were little or maybe its the song she danced with her father at her own wedding (may not work in some cases).

If you're still stuck, here's a list of songs that we suggest.

Forever Young - Rod Stewart

I always thought this song is the perfect song for a mother and song wedding dance. With lines like "May the good Lord be with you down every road you roam" and "may sunshine and happiness surround you when you're far from home", the song seems like a great way for the mother to acknowledge that her little boy is all grown up and is leaving the nest. The line" in my heart you'll always stay forever young" is a perfect way to describe how most mothers look at their sons; like the little boys they once were.

If you think this song is a little too fast paced, try the Bob Dylan version.

Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler

Another all time favorite, this song is a great example of a son acknowledging his mother for all the hard work and thankless-behind-the-scene jobs she's done for him throughout the years. If sung through the son, it seems like he's thanking his mother for everything and wants to let her know that he wouldn't be where he was today without her.

Child of Mine - Carol King

This is the song that my mother and I agreed on for our dance at my wedding. It's very sweet and is obviously sung through the eyes of the mother. Here's a Youtube video of the song, but once I get the footage from our videographer, I'll add that in it's place.

In My Life - Beatles

This is a great song about reminiscing and thinking about all those days that lead up to your big day. You could win bonus points from your Mom with this song, because chances are, she was a big Beatles fan growing up.

Or, if you're from the other side of the tracks, try the Ozzie Osbourne version of the song.

A Song for Mama - Boys II Men

Here's another great song thanking and acknowledging Mom. The song is ripe with lines that put Mom up on a pedestal like "You were always there to comfort me and no one else can be what you have been to me" or "mama you're the queen of my heart".
